Scripture References

These are just a few scripture references I have found to be helpful. I believe it’s important not to take scripture out of context, but there is still a lot of encouragement we can find in it, as well as Psalms that can be helpful to pray when praying is difficult.

  • Isaiah 33:2: O Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.
  • Isaiah 40:29: The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.
  • Isaiah 41:10: So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
  • Isaiah 41:13: For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear, I will help you.
  • Isaiah 43: 1-2: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
  • 2 Corinthians 12:9: But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
  • Deuteronomy 31:6: Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.
  • Deuteronomy 31:8: The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.
  • Psalm 9:9-10: The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
  • Psalm 54:4: Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.
  • Psalm 94:17-19: Unless the Lord had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death. When I said, ‘My foot is slipping, your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.
  • Psalm 120:1: I call on the Lord in my distress and He answers me.
  • Psalm 121:2: My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.
  • Psalm 130:1-2: Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord. O Lord, hear my voice, let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.
